GENETICS AND BREEDING is a journal designed to cover different areas of theoretical and applied genetics (plant, animal, microbial) and relevant subjects.

Full papers, brief communications, opinions, comments, criticism, information of scientific events and reviews (only by invitation) are published.

Manuscripts should be presented in English. Two hard copies and a file in Word  for Windows format on Optical disk (CD or DVD), USB flash memory or e-mail should be submitted. Correct language is the responsibility of the authors. Full length paper should not exceed 18 pages including tables and figures. Brief communications up to 6 pages and reviews up to 30 pages are accepted. A standard page is normally 30 lines x 65 characters. Manuscripts should be subdivided into the following sequence of sections: Title, Abstract, Key words, Abbreviations, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References.

Title. The title should be informative, concise and without abbreviations. It must be followed by the names of the author(s) and their address(es). The address of the corresponding author should be indicated by an asterisk.
Abstract. The abstract should not exceed 250 words. Abbreviations and reference citations should be avoided.

Key words. No more than 6 key words may by given in alphabetical order.

Abbreviations. All abbreviations used are to be given in alphabetical order.

Material and methods. This section provides precise details about the experimental material and the research methods.

Tables. These must be self-explanatory, the titles being informative enough. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet.

Illustrations. All figures (drafts and photographs) must be submitted on separate sheets, numbered on the back in pensile. The labeling in the figures should be done with letters or numbers. Photographs of high quality with respect to contrast and details should be submitted in the desired final size.

Figure legends. These must contain enough information so that the figures could be understood without reference to the text. Explanatory notes must be placed in the legends and not in the figures. Legends of all figures should be typed on a separate sheet.

Units. The International System of Units (SI) must be used.

Latin names and terms. These must be given in italics.

References. References in the text are cited by author and date (Smith, 1996; Lips and Blank, 1997). If the authors are more than two, they must be cited as follows: (Black et al., 1996). The reference list should be in alphabetical order including names and initials of the author(s), year of publication, full title of the article, title of the journal (book), volume, page numbers, publisher(s) and city (book only).
